[edit]With my limited Wiki skills I have made a start. I hope othes will improve, reference and add further detail.PB
I've created a reference section to add a link to a newspaper article, verifying some biographical information; also external link to contributor page for Granta magazine. The Betty Trask Award is a fairly major UK literary award, given by the Society of Authors, and Catton is included in the forthcoming new edition of Penguin Contemporary New Zealand Short Stories, so I'm nonplussed as to why she's been flagged as "not notable"!
I wonder if the lengthy paragraph summarising the plot of The Rehearsal ought to be cut - surely better placed on the novel's own page?
Can add more later, but very short of time now - off to see Catton's event at the Edinburgh Book Festival on Saturday! Flossiet (talk) 10:24, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
- I agree - this article needs improving but it's completely clear that the subject is notable. 15000 ghits and lots of reviews of her book. eg Independent Telegraph and Mail where she is described as "this year's golden girl of fiction". I'm removing the notability query. NBeale (talk) 10:53, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
References to childhood need updating - she mainly lived in New Zealand as a child and just spent a year in Leeds while her father was on sabbatical. Flossiet (talk) 23:40, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
Partner
[edit]An anon has "deleted reference to Partner since they are no longer togethe - source personal conversation at Edinburgh Book Festival" This is of course not a WP:RS. On the other hand BLP means we should err on the side of caution. Does anyone have a RS for this? NBeale (talk) 07:23, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
