Besides being a stub, would someone with the appropriate skills translate this into English. Please. Io 15:44, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry, I know I did'nt wrote it in very good Inglish. I will try it again with the little help of a dictionary--Anneboer 17:58, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'll try and help. Is this what you had in mind:

Edeko was for some time the chief of the Skirs. He was the father of Odoacer, who became magister militum in the Roman Army and king of Italy.

In the middle of the fitfh century the Skirs were a Germanic Tribe, vassals of the Huns and Edeko was a famous person at the court of Attila, in the same way Ardarik was, the king of the Gepids. According to written sources he kept Attila (under attack for the rest of his life?) (or protected Attila with his life?). In the battle of Chalons Edeko fought at the side of the Huns.

PS: The question marks are due to the fact that I can only read very simple texts in Dutch, and if Dutch is translated into nearly incomprehensible English, most must give up.

I hope this has helped. Don't let my criticism bother you. We all have to face them now and then. Alles Gute (yes I know, but it the closest I can get to Dutch). Io 18:38, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PS Anneboer, you might consider setting up a User Page, so that discussions can take place there. Cheers Io 18:40, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edekon

[edit]

Sorry what is this for shit? Edekon is one person, Leader of Turingi and Sciri, General under Attila, in Cooperation with Gepide Ardaric and he is father of Odoaker. Odoaker was king of Turingi and Sciri. Your sources from 1973 and 1982 is to old. The historic source is Jordanes, Getica 277; Malchus of Philadelphia, Fragmente 8;Priskos, Fragmente 7 and 8; Herwig Wolfram: Das Reich und die Germanen. Zwischen Antike und Mittelalter, 1998, ISBN 3-442-75518-2, S. 264 and much other younger Books. A hunnic name, why not but he is not a Hunne.

Proposed Merge

[edit]

I suggest that the article Edeco (which was created recently) be merged into this article, Edeko, as this is the older article and they seem to be about the same subject. Patr2016 (talk) 03:29, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
