I would like to contribute to this page

[edit]

I am new to editing on Wikipedia, so please excuse any mistakes in my process. I would like to make a major correction to this page. The full name of E. Jane Gay, as she was known in her life, was Elizabeth Jane Gay. I have a copy of her signature on her will, which was written in Winscombe, England, in 1915 and probated in Washington, D.C., in 1919. At one time, the Library of Congress had listed her name as "Emma" in a cataloging record, but it is no longer listed that way by the LC, their authority entry gives her name as E. Jane Gay. I believe the name "Emma" in the old record was the result of a misunderstanding in correspondence that her niece Jane Gay Dodge exchanged with the Library of Congress many years ago. I have changed her name in the text of the article and the informational text block with the photo on the righthand side of the page. I have also added her date of birth, July 27, 1830.

I have been researching E. Jane Gay for a number of years now and am very happy to see that this page has been created. I think it would be important to change to title of the page to E. Jane Gay, as that was the way she generally referred to herself. Changing the name of the page seemed to me to be a major change. I haven't it done it now because I don't know how to do that, but also because I wanted to consult with those of you who have already done so much work on this. Thank you.-- Josoih (talk) 21:36, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that only now, and moved the page. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:03, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
