Other Duesenberg 8 cylinder engines
[edit]Omitted is a prototype Walking Beam Eight originally planned for the Model A. When the car was presented in 1920, it had this engine fitted. Although ready for production, it was rejected immediately after the presentationb, and replaced by the 260 CI engine mentioned in the article. Thus, production was delayed for several months.
Obviously, the article refers to automobile engines only, as there was a series of marine engines that was with an eight cylinder engine, too. Most were made for the U.S. Navy, but there were also civilian modxels fore use in motor yachts. Dubbed Duesenberg Patrol Model Marine, Duesenberg Motors Corp. in Elizabeh, New Jersey built then in 6 and 8 cylinder configuration. They have walking beam valve gear, and are similar besides the number of cylinders. Engine block has cylinders cast in two.
