Rationale for keeping this article

[edit]

Prof. Sornette is a major scientist, as can be noted on his homepage. He is a world leader in the prediction of crises and extreme events in complex systems (with applications to finance, economics, marketing, earthquakes, rupture, biology, medecine).

He is the author and coauthor of more than 350 research papers in refereed international journals and more than 120 papers in books and conference proceedings; editor of two proceedings of two international conferences.

This article does not yet reflect all the above but this article should not be deleted, as it does follow the criteria for inclusion in wikipedia, notably:

  • The person has received a notable award or honor, or has been often nominated for them .
  • The person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in his or her specific field.

For further reference please read Prof Sornette's homepage.

This article looks promotional

[edit]

I see that Sornette is a major contributor to this article. I also see that some sentences are cited with numerous articles, with little distinction to the details of the articles cited. Can we trim this back? Attic Salt (talk) 14:15, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'd rather say this article about a person is completely overloaded. Compare with German edition, this is how it should look like. Theories etc. should be separated under consideration of Wikipedia:No_original_research. 17387349L8764 (talk) 15:05, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've started trimming it back a bit, but it's hard for me to see a version of this page that doesn't delete nearly all of the current material (the vast majority of which is simply summary of various papers, citing the papers themselves, and added by Sornette himself).
