Yes, it should be merged with "Dharma Protectors". Dharmapala literally means Dharma Protector.

Mahakala
[edit]Mahakala is not a single Dharma Protector but a class of Dharma Protector. See e.g. http://www.himalayanart.org/pages/mahakala/index.html. Chris Fynn (talk) 13:53, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
Socalled Worldly Protectors
[edit]I would like to mention at least one of them within the article, but I don't know how and where exactly to get them inserted. There doesn't seem to be a place.

Source
[edit]- [1] This source claims that the first Buddhist protectors originate with the Pali Sutras and later occur in the Mahayana Sutras. Is it possible to retrieve this kind of Sutras?

See also: Anonymous?
[edit]WP:See also suggests that "Editors should provide a brief annotation when a link's relevance is not immediately apparent." I would like to request this as the Anonymous group's relevance to this article is not apparent: they are not Buddhists, they are not motivated by bodhichitta (the wish to become a Buddha for the benefit of all sentient beings), Dharmapalas do not act "anonymously" behind masks/hidden identities, etc. Dharmapalas are the "guardian angels" of Tibetan Buddhism, protecting a person's spiritual realizations; as such, Dharmapalas have no interest in worldly concerns. So, I do not see how Anonymous is a modern-day example of a Dharmapala, neither in terms of motivation or method. It is a rather spurious comparison. Not primary topic
[edit]Dharmapala is a common name. See Dharmapala (disambiguation).
The obscure Buddhist deity described here (according to the creator of this page) cannot be the WP:PTOPIC for this name. So, I will rename it. What should the new name be?
Please provide feedback. If there is no feedback, I will go with the first choice. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 07:46, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
