They are series critic reviews as a whole, not a series premiere (first episode) critic reviews. Please see "Dexter: Original Sin: Season 1". Metacritic. Read the 6 reviews (it's not that hard) to see that they are, in fact, reviews for the premiere episode. Metacritic doesn't actually aggregate reviews for individual episodes which you mentioned above. It reads, "Following on from Dexter: New Blood, the series' frame story sees serial killer of killers Dexter Morgan thinking back on his youth (fifteen years before the first season of Dexter) while on his deathbed." The scene actually shows Dexter in an ER bed.
