1909 census is fake!

How can anyone draw ethnic data from language name? --Ego and his own 05:06, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How can one not be able to do so? Nikola 18:28, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Um...Are Austrians who speak German, German by automatism? Are Irish, Americans and Australians English, and are Latin American nations Spanish(Brazil Potuguese)??? If you can prove so, there is no problem with the 1909 census, mate... Sideshow Bob 19:21, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, so what? Nikola 19:29, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So language does not neccesarily determine one's nationality... It's as simple as that. Sideshow Bob 19:33, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And how does the fact that language does not neccesarily determine one's nationality in any way mean that language does not sometimes determine it, like in this case? Nikola 19:43, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In real 1909. census there could be only Serbian language, since Montenegrin was invented in 21st century. This is clearly a forgery, it should be edited or removed. 91.226.242.156 (talk) 00:37, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It does not determine nationality AT ALL. This part of the article should be revised. Stop trying to interpret the census in ways to support your own agenda. The census recorded language and religion and that's what it say in the article.

Montenegrin was invented just as much as Serbian, Croatian or Bosnian. If we are going to discuss facts and not agendas, all of those are politicized names of one pluricentric Serbo-Croatian language. Period.

Evidence

[edit]

I want reliable evidence that in 1914 Montenegrin Code stated that Montenegrin ethnicity does not exist. Also, provide sources for the 1921 census, please. Sideshow Bob 22:14, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Montenegrin Code of Law from 1914

Here. I know you won't like this (don't get mad at me), but you.. err... asked... --PaxEquilibrium 20:51, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nikola's pathetic propaganda... (King Nikola, not the wikipedia user:) Well, I guess that's reliable source as well, regardless of how large amount of bullshit it contains... :/ Sideshow Bob 22:50, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think Nicholas himself has got to do much with this, save for officially approving it... --PaxEquilibrium 10:10, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You think? In 1914, at the peak of his all-Serbs-in-one-country-with-me-at-its-helm propaganda? For some reason, I think that was a part of his larger plan... Sideshow Bob 14:59, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If I recall, the peak was before - by the start of the WWI he was already losing his old national romantic ideals.
What I meant to say that the Code was written by a Council of greatest Montenegrin Lawyers. The two main people responsible for it were Z. Dragovic and Lj. A. Bakic. I don't think that Nicholas himself had anything to do with the Code itself. --PaxEquilibrium 16:09, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So the latest census was in 2003

[edit]

Do we have more timely data shows the population and ethnicity of Montenegro? or there was no census conducted after the dissolution of Serb-Montenegro? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 221.220.236.225 (talk) 10:52, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There was a census in 2011. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.140.150.222 (talk) 23:50, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Medieval needs editing

[edit]

Montenegrins are mentioned when referring to medieval demographic data. In medieval times, only Serbs were present there as a majority, because Montenegro didn't exist under that name (land was then called Zeta), so there could be no Montenegrins either. Montenegro as one of Serbian national states was recognized in XIX century, after liberation from the Turks. Montenegrins as a nation separate from Serbs, was declared by communist regime of Josif Broz Tito after WWII, but that was imposed political decision and not result of national sentiment. Orthodox people in Montenegro remained Serbs until this day. Ones pushing the Montenegrin nationhood are remnants of former Yugoslav communist regime, atheists. They get support from their party comrades and minorities, notably Albanians from eastern and southeastern parts of the country, Islamized Serbs (now Bosniaks, some tend to declare themselves as Montenegrins) from Montenegrin part of Rascia and Catholicized Serbs (now Croaticized) from Littoral. That way, Montenegro is hijacked from Serbian majority, which is being suppressed. This despotic ruling class now continues to work on de facto creating of Montenegrin nation, by imposing local dialect of Serbian language as new, Montenegrin, learned in schools. Next, they rewrite history books according to their agenda - severing every link with Serbian culture. This is something that should be pointed out, since no free speech is allowed for Serbs in Montenegro today. 91.226.242.156 (talk) 00:30, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The above statement is pure right-wing propaganda. I am a Serb, living in Montenegro all my life, and I have all the rights to self-expression just like anyone else. It's simply not true that Serbs are being discriminated upon. If your only sources for that are the various media outlets, know that they have something personal against the people in power, and as such would go to great lengths just to put out a mixture of both fake and true stories that defame the regime, only to get the populace on their side. And it has nothing to do with this article.

Montenegrins, (just like the peoples from the regions such as Lika, Krajina, Podrinje, Herzegovina, but that is irrelevant to this context), are only related to Serbs by religion. It's based on the recent agenda that everyone who speaks Serbo-Croatian, and is also an Eastern Orthodox Christian, is by default a Serb, which is a blatant forgery of facts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.140.150.222 (talk) 23:55, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
