GA Review

[edit]

Article (edit | visual edit | history) · Article talk (edit | history) · Watch
Overall the article is good. However, there's a few things that need fixing:

  • All citation needed sentences need to be dealt with.
  • Is there a way to make sure the two Blackmoor's are knowingly distinct in the article? They're both linked, which helps, but at first I thought he published the original one from the early 70s in 1975. (maybe just an addition that it was named after the former or something)
  • Some parts of "After TSR" that aren't tagged as citation needed couls still use some cites, such as his 1986 work.

Besides that, the article's quite well done. I'll put it on hold and give you guys a few days. Wizardman 22:26, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!  :) We'll get to work. BOZ (talk) 22:31, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed; thank you. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 22:33, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
There's been some improvement; how are we sitting now? :) BOZ (talk) 16:10, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good so far. There's still a citation need tag, but we're close to GA status now. Wizardman 02:07, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. If we can't find a source for that, we may just have to remove it. BOZ (talk) 02:34, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed it... I did a Google search for "Dungeonmaster's Index" (with the quotes) and found no reliable sources (I looked through all of the pages of results... all five). Since that whole paragraph really ties into that book's publication, I have removed it. There may be something in print, but either I'm being blind (possible) or there's no good online source (although there could be something in BOZ's Dragon archives... I'm not sure if that would be in one of those or not considering that this topic is more about Arneson himself, not D&D as a whole). –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 02:55, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Is the question whether Arneson published this? Publishing info is at http://www.tomeoftreasures.com/tot_nontsr/arneson.htm published by Heritage Models (Heritage Models was a miniature figures company founded by Jim Oden from Miniature Figurines USA, inc. (Dallas), Oden began business by casting Napoeonic figures, which is likely how Arneson go to know him.) However, I have not been able to find any info on how TSR felt about this publication.Guinness323 (talk) 03:34, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It would primarily be TSR's reaction to it, although that source could be used to simply say that the book was published. I felt that the TSR info was the "main point" of that paragraph, so without it I wasn't sure if the paragraph should be kept. Feel free to readd. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 15:44, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think the important point is that this was not a TSR publication although the index was about TSR publications i.e. Strategic Review, the various boxed sets, etc. I'm a bit busy today but wilkl have a go at it tomorrow.Guinness323 (talk) 16:35, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Took a stab at the Dungeonmaster's Index paragraph by simply listing it and its contents, noting that it concerned TSR properties even though Arneson was no longer at TSR. I also cleaned up the following paragraph concerning the lawsuit, since the confidentiality sentence was written in present tense as if Gygax and Arneson were still alive. And I moved up the subhead "After TSR" two paragraphs, since Dungeonmaster's Index and the lawsuit(s) came after he left TSR.Guinness323 (talk) 20:20, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Great work. :) BOZ (talk) 22:37, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, with that fixed, I now feel comfortable passing this article as a GA. Well done. Wizardman 02:05, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Great, and thank you! :) BOZ (talk) 02:16, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent! Thank you for the review. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 02:18, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
