Joe Smith

[edit]

I started an article for Joe Smith and was wondering if someone could incorporate him into this article. I think he was of substantial importance to the club. Thanks. - Dudesleeper 10:42, 16 September 2006 (UTC) - Dudesleeper · Talk 19:53, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Northern Counties Premier League Era

[edit]

I am one half of the Official Historians for AFC Darwen. I would like to add some factual information about the club without it being deleted. Please could you keep my posts or help me around adding key information. I have added more info regarding the end of the NWCFL Division One final season and also added The Martin Vizzard Memorial trophy to the honours list (beat Turton 3-2) in July 2016 to win the trophy.

I would like to add information regarding the club's survival in their first season in the league. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shambles Smurph (talkcontribs) 13:16, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

What is the Martin Vizzard Memorial Trophy? Is it a NWCL competition? What information do you want to add about their first season in the Premier Division? What did they achieve beyond staying in the division? Number 57 14:32, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The Martin Vizzard Memorial Trophy is a Trophy in Memorium of the late Martin Vizzard (ex-Chairman) of Turton FC. I would like to add the end of season victory v Cammell Laird which kept the club up on the final day of the season. Darwen won 4-1.
Why will you also not allow the goalscorers to be mentioned when the club won the NWCFL Division One trophy? The goalscorers are historical fact. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shambles Smurph (talkcontribs) 12:16, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The goalscorers are indeed historical fact, but the question is whether that level of detail is needed – I could perhaps understand if the players were notable enough for articles, but that's not the case.

Is it possible to mention the 4-1 Home Victory that kept the club up on the final day of the season v Cammell Laird? Shambles Smurph (talk) 15:40, 22 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It didn't keep them up though – even if they'd lost, they would still have finished on 40 points in 20th place. Number 57 21:08, 22 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The Club went into the game knowing a win would definitely keep them up and they did. I know other results didn't go the way people were expecting but it was a huge win for the club who had been struggling Shambles Smurph (talk) 12:29, 23 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The club did not "secure survival" (as you claim in your repeated additions to the article) with the last day win because they'd have stayed up even if they had lost. Please stop adding this to the article again and again – if you add material to an article and it is reverted, you should not add it again, instead you should discuss on the talk page and get agreement from other editors to re-add the material before trying again (see WP:BRD).
