coi, etc

[edit]

"Why would I conceivably put my child through six more years of that bullshit?", in reference to Danielle's difficulties with public education." -- this is not the tone of an objective encyclopedic biography. The subject of an article is not in a position to judge the objectivity. DGG ( talk ) 19:41, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have now removed an attempt to reinstate a dramatically COI/POV version of the article. If it is restored,I shall take it to AfD with the explanation: continues to be highly promotional, and not responsive to ordinary editing. DGG ( talk ) 02:34, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Parent's names

[edit]

Per WP:BLPNAME there is a presumption against naming family members unless they are themselves notable or there is something significant to say about them. Please provide the reasoning for including her parent's names in this article. Jytdog (talk) 21:06, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Parents names can be listed in the biography or personal life sections as they are sourced by multiple news articles in which the subject does not object. They don't need to be listed in the infobox. See Scooter Braun. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:14, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
What you just wrote has nothing to do with the WP:BLPNAME. Please read it and provide a justification based on what it says - spirit and letter. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 21:15, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Listing some family background would be helpful for the understanding of the person. Who pulled her out of school? The Wired article notes that her mother Trudy also went to college when she was 15. [1] AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:23, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
saying that her parents pulled her out of school or that her mother was also precocious does not require naming them. Jytdog (talk) 21:34, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps they can be added when a proper personal life section is developed and when there is more notability in secondary sources. Also note that she made her dad a director in the business. [2] Otherwise just saying "her father" and "her mother" will have to do. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:45, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

BLP issue with fraud allegations

[edit]

I've removed the following sentence due to BLP issues:

She was ranked with Elizabeth Holmes as one of the fraudulent founders. LightSail Energy never went commercial and had run out of cash due to Fong's lavish lifestyle and a serious lack of work ethic.

Per WP:HEADLINE, News headlines—including subheadlines—are not a reliable source. If the information is supported by the body of the source, then cite it from the body. The source article body does not allege that Fong was "fraudulent", a highly BLP-sensitive claim that needs top notch sourcing. It's not clear that Business of Business is a reliable source at all—certainly publishing lists of "fraudulent" founders who don't seem to have been involved in fraud doesn't reflect well. It also seems to cite only "disgruntled employees". GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 19:28, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've started a discussion at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#Greentech Media and Business of Business on Danielle Fong which may be of interest to any talk page watchers. GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 19:29, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

As of August 2024. Same person since “Cofounder, LightSail Energy” on Lightcell Energy; link to Lightcell from personal x/twitter page, and x/twitter links to personal blog which mentions LightSail.

Lightcell is getting some media coverage. David Woodward (talk) 05:24, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
