Canadian history and context

[edit]

It isn't quite right that alcholic beverages are not sold in convenience stores in other provinces. Some issue agency licences to convenience stores, which then can sell beer, wine, and liquor. These are to be found in rural areas of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, for instance, where it is cheaper to do this than to set up a state-owned store. Quebec has for years permitted the sale of beer and wine in all convenience and grocery stores, but in some rural areas it also issues agency licences to small stores to sell spirits as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.73.131.132 (talk) 15:22, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am from Western Canada. I've never heard anyone use ``corner shop; ``corner store prevails. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.30.251.100 (talk) 21:40, 12 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
