Sago cycad
[edit]"Sago cycad" is at best a minor common name for this species, and one I have never encountered in the botanical or horticultural literature; "sago palm" is a much more familiar name. MrDarwin 15:03, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
- It may currently be a minor name, but it is attested (c.1000 google hits), and I consider that an encyclopedia has a duty to educate for the future, not to just perpetuate or encourage historical misconceptions - MPF 09:50, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
- Still going down that road, MPF? :o) So let's let the other shoe drop: "sago palm" gets about 33,000 hits vs. the ca. 1000 for "sago cycad". I still say it's not Wikipedia's place to impose a "correct" common name, especially when deciding who or what determines what is "correct" opens such a messy can of worms. MrDarwin 14:55, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
- It doesn't have to impose either. Post both names and state that it is not a true palm or even a flowering plant. --Kalmia 06:52, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

production of sago?
[edit]This line should be removed or have a reference, hole article states this is a very toxic plant.
It is one of several species used for the production of sago, — Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.236.114.204 (talk) 15:32, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
