The CPB has had it's congressional funding threatened a number of times, mostly by Republicans who think PBS had a left-wing bias. President Nixon was well known for his dislike of PBS and the CPB and wanted to kill the congressional funding for it, though never succeeded. We should included something on the various attempts by Presidents and/or congressmen to cut it's funding. why are CPB-funded media outlets not called state-sponsored or government-funded?
Outlets like RT have a statement that they are funded and controlled by the government, even though similar to CPD-funded media, they receive funding from taxpayers. It seems like a bias/POV issue to not list PBS, NPR, etc, similarly. This very article talks about admitted government bias at the CPB. Asaturn (talk) 19:18, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This article says: "people from PBS and NPR complained that the CPB was starting to push a conservative agenda." NPR controversies says: "Various allegations of bias against conservatives have arisen throughout NPR's history." In the 50 years since NPR was founded, the US has had Democratic presidents during 20 years and Republican presidents during 30 years.
