Which Scottish is meant?

[edit]

In regard to this part of the section Names:

"The originally Scottish 'Corne Crake' was popularised by Thomas Bewick, who used this term in his 1797 A History of British Birds. Other Scottish names include 'Corn Scrack' and 'Quailzie' … "

—does anyone know if the mentions here of "Scottish" should be piped to Scottish Gaelic, Lowland Scots, or Scottish English? I don't have sufficient knowledge of the subject to know which is correct as applies to either Corne Crake, Corn Scrack, or Quailzie. (Note that the first mention of Scottish is so-far unlinked; while the second is currently piped to Scottish English.) Hamamelis (talk) 20:55, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-English names, whether Gaelic, German, Russian or anything else are inappropriate in the English language article and are excluded, although I've made an exception for the French folk name because of its close similarity with the Scots phrase. The two articles regarding the Scottish varieties of English don't make a clear distinction, but, as far as I can tell, the names given are Scottish English; link moved to first occurrence now Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:34, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the clarification! Hamamelis (talk) 03:26, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
