@شادي: I have no idea why you claimed that the content that you removed is not in the source. I have checked and I can confirm that it is, so please don't remove it again. M.Bitton (talk) 22:44, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@R Prazeres Did not find it in the source in the beggining when I clicked to the link, but then discovered that I did not have acsess to the source...
The fact that it was given away to Spain by a saadi sultan was denied by Al Ifrani, a reliable source here exactly+ another reliable source denied it p159 + the whole story seem to be unconsistent because the islot was under ottoman control since 1554 (more info in this wikipedia article). So I ask kindly to remove the false information (most historians based themselves on Al Nasiri who never actually confirmed it just mentionned it in his book + he said it was found in "unknown files") more elaborate sources do not mention it. Shadi (talk) 23:29, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Al Ifrani is an ancient source (I haven't checked what he says). The book by Robert Rezette was published in 1976, and is therefore older than the Encyclopedia of Islam.
I see that you pinged "R Prazeres" (I assume that was a mistake and you meant to ping me), but for the others, I'll remind you that WP:CANVASSING is disruptive, so If any of them weigh in, their opinion will be ignored. M.Bitton (talk) 23:49, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes by error, the ping to others was just to know others opinion about the subject.
To have a clear consensus about the subject (it need more than two people). But I was wrong I guess.
Anyways, per source, I think it is clear that Saadi sultan couldn't have "handed over the islot to the spanish" because it was under ottoman ("turk pirates") control then. Shadi (talk) 00:05, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
