On merging Features section from ColdFusion to ColdFusion Markup Language
[edit]As chair of the CFML Advisory Committee, I want to address the suggestion of merging the features section from the Adobe ColdFusion page to this CFML page. CFML should be used to refer to core language features only. Vendor-specific features should remain on the page discussing that vendor's implementation of CFML. What constitutes "core language" for CFML is currently being determined by the committee so it is premature to start merging content on these two pages.
Once the committee has published its specification of core vs vendor-specific language features (which should happen by the end of 2008), we can start to expend the CFML page to cover core language and ensure that other vendor-specific pages refer to the core CFML page as well as providing documentation of their own extensions on their own pages. This seems like a very good approach, and I wholeheartedly agree. 128.250.176.68 (talk) 06:49, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
Could the website be dropped because thats the Adobe CF Site, the railo and BD sites are not linked. Not having this would be the ideal. Also the developer section could well do with being dropped? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.172.76.131 (talk) 09:31, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
I would say that a shake up of the pages is needed , but I think we need to remember that ColdFusion and CFML are, as subjects (despite being linked ) two separate entities, ColdFusion as a server side Programming Language(CFML) and the web technology that powers it, i think that it should be a single (or linked) page with references and titles exlaining wyhich sections are dealing with which area.- James Crawford —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.243.49.98 (talk) 10:32, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- This article should cover the CFML language (syntax, semantics, etc) and nothing else. The history section should be dropped (information there belongs in the respective engine's pages). The rest of the page needs a complete overhaul, and in particular should be giving equal footing to script syntax (which currently is briefly mentioned then forgotton about). I added a link to Mike Henke's "CFML in 100 minutes" tutorial, because that's currently a far better representation of CFML than this page (although it is a tutorial, rather than an encylopaedic article, which is what this page needs to become). -- Peter Boughton (talk) 15:43, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
