Mascot of the "Department of Service"?
[edit]I can't find any record of a U.S. government department called the "Department of Service." "Department of service" seems to be a generic term referring to the various branches of the military, i.e., Army, Navy, Air Force. Was Cher Ami actually the mascot of the U.S. Army? Where did this information come from? The source given in the footnote does not mention it (and is a non-reliable source anyway, being a personal blog), and the only other references I can find to it online are from Wikipedia clones. [edit]Looking at the transcript that is shown on a linked page, 65 minutes seems to be the correct time. I did not look into time zones or verify that the transcript was authentic. Perhaps there is a secondary source that goes into this? Fotoguzzi (talk) 00:41, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

Hen or Cock Bird?
[edit]I note that the Smithsonian's own website claims Cher Ami was a cock, rather than a hen. She looks more like a hen to me (cock pigeons tend to have more of 'ruff' around the neck). But what are the sources? Silverwhistle (talk) 12:55, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
