List of stations
[edit]I have started to work on the list of stations, but a lot of them are missing. I have found a list, but their location is not provided and I don't know if the list is complete. Most of the missing stations are on the Cambrai and on the Le Cateau branches.Hektor (talk) 20:07, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Here is a list (found on http://www.france-ferroviaire.info ) of missing stations with guess on location :
- Troisvilles (probably between Caudry and Le Cateau)
- Bessemer (on the territory of Denain)
- Vieux-Lourches (probably a second station of Lourches, but which side of the Lourches station ?)
- Saint Aubert had more than one station, indeed three :
- Saint-Aubert – Nord (my guess is that it does not mean that this station is in the North of Saint-Aubert, but that it is a connection with the Nord company network - same as Saint-Quentin, the Saint-Quentin Nord station being south of the city !)
- Saint-Aubert – Sucrerie
- Saint-Aubert-Cambrésis
- Inchy had two stations (probably between Caudry and Le Cateau):
- Inchy – Sucrerie
- Inchy
- Le Cateau-Cambrésis had four stations:
- Faubourg-de-Cambrai (on the territory of Le Cateau - probably between Le Cateau and Caudry)
- Le Cateau-Cambrésis
- Rue-Belle (on the territory of Le Cateau - nowadays Rue-Belle is called Rue du Maréchal Mortier in Le Cateau)
- La Clef-d'Or (on the territory of Le Cateau)
- Beaumont (probably between Caudry and Le Cateau)
- Douchy (halte) - second station in Douchy
- Le Gard (on the territory of Catillon - probably last station before Catillon terminus)
- Le Cateau-Cambrésis had three stations:
- Cambrai – Banlieue
- Cambrai-Cambrésis (terminus of the line in Cambrai)
- Faubourg-du-Cateau (arrêt) (it is named arrêt, so it is just a "stop")
- Carnières (probably between Caudry and Cambrai)
- Estourmel (probably between Caudry and Cambrai)
- Bazuel (probably between Catillon and Le Cateau)
- Beauvois (probably between Caudry and Cambrai)
So for the branch from Le Cateau to Catillon for instance the line should be:
- Le Cateau-Cambrésis -> Rue-Belle -> La Clef-d'Or -> Bazuel -> Le Gard -> Catillon with a guess on my side about the location of Rue-Belle and La Clef-D'Or...
The branch from Le Cateau to Caudry could be :
- Le Cateau-Cambrésis -> Faubourg-de-Cambrai -> Troisvilles -> Inchy – Sucrerie -> Inchy -> Beaumont -> Caudry Cambrésis ?
The branch from Cambrai to Caudry could be :
- Caudry -> Beauvois -> Carnières -> Estourmel -> Awoingt -> Faubourg-du-Cateau -> Cambrai – Banlieue -> Cambrai-Cambrésis ?
... but these are wild guesses on my part. Hektor (talk) 20:37, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- You're doing a good job there. The info above will enable another editor to improve the article further. Old maps would be a good source to show the order of the stations. Mjroots (talk) 07:18, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
Uncertainties
[edit]I have updated the branches to Le Cateau, Catillon and Cambrai, but there remain a few uncertainties that someone with a map of the network could solve:
- Sequence of the stations Inchy, Troisvilles and Inchy - Sucrerie
- Sequence of the Le Cateau stations : Le Cateau, Rue-Belle and La Clef-d'Or
- Sequence of the Cambrai stations : Faubourg-du-Cateau, Cambrai - Banlieue and Cambrai.
Regarding the branch to Denain :
- Location of the three Saint-Aubert stations (Saint-Aubert Nord, Saint-Aubert Cambrésis and Saint-Aubert Sucrerie)
- Location of station Vieux-Lourches
- Location of station Douchy (halte)
- Confirm location of station Bessemer - I have found an interesting article about the collision at Bessemer between the Cambrésis train and a Valenciennes - Denain tramway in 1959 ! See the picture !
... and of course aren't we missing any station ? Hektor (talk) 07:59, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'd say we could make a good fair use argument to use the picture. The article comes up as a 404 Not Found, will try and find it by a search of user name.Mjroots (talk) 11:06, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
- I have modified the URL. Hektor (talk) 12:25, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
Picture
[edit]- I know where the Le Cateau station is, when I have time I could take a picture of what's left. Hektor (talk) 08:01, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
To be compared with the real thing : http://pagesperso-orange.fr/zeurg/cpa.htm?cpa_59360lecateau.jpg
Saint-Aubert
[edit]I think I have more or less a correct table now, I have got it from a timetable of May 1914. There are just a few industrial branches missing. I have found references of at least five such industrial branches : La Folie in Caudry, in Bellicourt, in Lesdins, in Saint-Aubert and in Catillon ...
Now I have however a problem for Saint-Aubert. Before 1914 there were 3 stations. Coming from Denain, the train was arriving at St Aubert Cambrésis and then was going to St Aubert Sucrerie to arrive at St Aubert Nord (connecting station with the Chemins de fer du Nord). In this station, the train was pulling back, was going in the other way through St Aubert Sucrerie to go to Caudry. After the war, a direct connection between St Aubert Sucrerie and St Aubert Cambrésis was built. From this time, only the train with a terminus in St Aubert were servicing St Aubert Nord. Could someone help me with the graphical representation.Hektor (talk) 20:55, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Images of Saint_Quentin
[edit]- We need to be clear that the pictures are of the main Saint Quentin station which offered a connection between the Chemin de Fer du Nord network and the Cambrésis network ; this was a large standard gauge station. The metric line station of the Cambrésis was on the same premises, but is not shown on the pictures. Hektor (talk) 05:34, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
