vital dates

[edit]

Charlie Gould at find-a-grave is

Birth: Aug. 21, 1846
Death: Apr. 10, 1917

The 1951 memorial stone (by Cincinnati Reds years later, photo at f-a-g) says

August 30, 1846 - April 9, 1917

(As written 2006-08-27 the stub includes vital dates by baseball-reference. Elsewhere I have resources to complete this memo and edit the article if necessary.) --P64 17:05, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article stands. It matches the major encyclopedias (baseball-reference.com and retrosheet.org online, 2005 ESPN Baseball Encyclopedia (BE2005) in print).
B8.21.1847 Cincinnati OH - D4.10.1917 Flushing NY (BE2005 format)
The bimonthly SABR Biographical Research Committee Report includes a change log. For four years through June 2006 there is no listing for Gould (subject to my clerical error). Authors of the three listed encyclopedias all try to match SABR biographical database changes.
Please do not revise the vital dates except by citing a SABR Biog RCR or reporting your research to that authority via directory of SABR research committees. This one deals in getting the facts straight and welcomes contributions by nonmembers. --P64
