Minor Change on influences.

[edit]

I removed the citation needed mention for his influences. I don't believe those to be contested really, as they are his influences. I will attempt to find a source interview on that. Not a familiar Wiki editor, so I wanted to note it and make sure it was correct to do. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wildwose (talkcontribs) 20:34, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

And your coming here to discuss the issue is most welcome. Thank you. We can't really say, of anyone, "as they are his influences" without giving reliable-source citations — in this case, I'd imagine, Vess himself in an interview discussing his influences. Otherwise, it's an editor's personal POV, which Wikipedia disallows. I've restored the cite tag — which we're really not supposed to remove without adding a citation — and since, as you say, you're seeking a cite, all will be right with the world. Thank you. Unclear on Wiki standards and ways of doing things. My apologies. I guess I meant that it is common knowledge among his fans and collectors, and he mentions it in many interviews and in newest collection of his work. Does this interview count? http://greenmanreview.com/book/interview_vess.html

He mentions both Rackham and Mucha in it. Thanks for keeping me straight, I didn't realize anyone was watching his page much, but like I said, not a regular wiki editor. Wildwose (talk) 03:15, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wow! Just took a look at your edits and pages on you page. Excellent support of the comics and illustration community! Thank you and I was thinking of updating a few other things on the Vess entry. His work with Neil on Instructions for instance. I don't want to do anything incorrectly, so want to be careful. Charles also shared an apartment with Michael Kaluta and I wondered if that would be a pertinent point. I would have to find citation for it, if so. Wildwose (talk) 03:32, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Here we go: I've added an Influences section based on Wildwose's very good citation, and moved the footnote from the lead to the article body as per WP:LEAD. Excellent collaborative work, Wildrose! Looking forward to working with you more! With regards, --Tenebrae (talk) 03:50, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. For disclosure, I am both a fan of Vess, and a personal friend. We are active in the Mythic Arts community, and Vess is part of that. Being a professional artist myself, I won't have time to get my skills right for Wiki, but want to see Vess and some of the other folks in the Mythic Arts Movement get proper entries. The scene is gather some influence, and I felt that Wiki is a good place to cite those, etc. So thanks for your help, and I hope I can keep from fudddling anything else. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wildwose (talkcontribs) 16:07, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
