Not to mention that the advertising is about as subtle as Triumph Of The Will.
- I agree, this is clearly advertising masquerading as an encyclopedia article. Jaimetout 00:53, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
Actually, I am the original editor of this article. Someone had put up a request for an article on Martin Theatres and I found out that this company acquired them, and as Carmike is one of the larger theater chains in the U.S, made this page (with only the first line up to the "from Fuquo Industries in 1982.", and tossed in some redirects. Someone has since gone through and added a lot more than I put on there to begin with, probably all from their corporate website. I do agree that NPOVing needs to happen to this page. --Avery W. I did a little bit of digging and founnd that 72.148.220.179 was the one that added the material. I went to the carmike website, and it turns out that the "new" material is copy-and-pasted straight from the Corporate History section [1] So, it looks like there is also a possible/probable copyright violation involved. OK, I personally don't really care about this topic, but it is clearly a copyright violation (Copy and Pasted) straight from Carmike Website. So, I'm adding the possible copyright violation template Rlax 02:12, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
Changed my mind, the 1st paragraph is (apparently) not copy-and-pasted, so I'm just going to revert Rlax 02:23, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
Contradictions
[edit]Check out the Cinemark wikipage. This page also claims that they are the third largest film company in the U.S. This informaton should be corrected or removed -68.82.217.112 05:46, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
- I believe that the missunderstanding here comes from whether you are counting by locations, screens, or some other financial means of calculating size. Because there are claims that Carmike is the third largest theatre company and the "number one" theatre chain "in America."(according to their own trailers)(68.54.236.217 (talk) 09:30, 22 March 2008 (UTC))
