Conflicting information

[edit]

There seems to be some conflicting information about Knott. Examples: I've read that he was an assistant before he graduated and I've also read that he became an assistant after he graduated. Similarly, I've read that he was a lecturer in Physics upon his return to Scotland and I've read that he was a lecturer in applied mathematics but I can see how this mistake could have been made. In both cases, I've used the most reliable source: St. Andrew University for the first and his obituary for the second. Nwhit (talk) 13:14, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

E & M

[edit]

Reference to a text Electricity and Magnetism (1893) has been removed as no trace could be found on GB search, rather the Edinburgh University Calendar announces a summer 1894 course on that topic recommending articles in Encyclopedia Britannica as textbooks. — Rgdboer (talk) 01:21, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
