Newfoundland became part of Canada in 1949, so how can it have competed at the 1938 British Empire Games as part of the Canadian team?

Newfoundland was actually a British colony, even though it was nominally the Dominion of Newfoundland, from 1934 until 1949 under the Commission of Government. - (203.211.71.37 (talk) 01:35, 14 November 2011 (UTC))[reply]
