Locomotive Codes

[edit]

More recent Chinese locomotives have a two latin/english letter code based on the pronunciation of the Chinese name for that class of locomotives.

If the name of the class were say "Ren Min" = "Good steaming" , then the two letter code would be RM.

Thus:

  • 1954, the "Peace" (Chinese: 和平号) steam powered locomotive => AB
  • 1958, the "Giant Dragon" (Chinese: 巨龙号) diesel powered locomotive => CD
  • 1964, the "East Wind" (Chinese: 东风号) diesel locomotive => EF
  • 1969, the "East Wind No. 4" {Chinese: 东风4号) diesel locomotive => EF4

History ...

[edit]

It would be good if sources can be found for the history up to 1950.. Specifically - the factorys facilities and production.

Additionally some other parts need a references - does anyone know where the info has come from?Sf5xeplus (talk) 04:24, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It should have some books in Japanese or in Chinese, due to that period was actually influenced by the Japanese occupation. Matthew_hk tc 06:49, 30 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
