705/706
[edit]In recent days the total in the world figure table has gone from 705 to 706 to 705 and again to 706. Neither number is mentioned in this article. Is thre some background info available? Agathoclea (talk) 14:35, 4 March 2020 (UTC)
- Sources for those can be seen here, https://www.mhlw.go.jp/stf/newpage_09783.html, https://www.mhlw.go.jp/stf/newpage_09964.html. The WHO situation reports went from 705 for 4 days to 706 on 2nd of March. I'm not sure how the timing works but it was reported there was one case in a quarantine officer working on the ship that may have been counted in the country figures rather than international. Data behind "recovered" count?
[edit]The claim that 100 have recovered would be much more useful if we knew how and when it was calculated. Jgrudin (talk) 10:36, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
Total tested exceeds capacity of ship?
[edit]The latest data (Feb 26) on this page says 4,061 people aboard the ship have been tested. But according to this: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Diamond_Princess_(ship) this ship holds
- Capacity: 2,670 passengers
- Crew: 1,100 crew
Also, February 26 data is pretty stale. Can we get some more recent data? Herdrick (talk)
Please check if this is the number of people tested or the number of test. Some people have been tested several times. Oriclay 10:14, 27 March 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by AltFkatre (talk • contribs)

8th death
[edit]This NYTs article says 8
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/08/world/asia/coronavirus-cruise-ship.html
Ultimately, eight people died and more than 700 were infected, including some government officials.
Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 21:56, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, should be 8 deaths, I compiled these from various sources, mostly the Japanese health press releases:
1. 87yo M from Japan, died 20/02/20
2. 84yo F from Japan, died 20/02/20
3. 80yo M from Japan, died 23/02/20
4. M in their 80s from Japan, died 25/02/20
5. F in their 70s from Japan, died 28/02/20
6. M in their 70s from UK, died 28/02/20
7. 78yo M from Australia, died 01/03/20
8. M from Hong Kong, died 06/03/20
The WHO situation reports also list 7 deaths on the Diamond Princess since the 8th March report but still list 3 deaths in Australia, one of whom was patient number 7 who died in a Perth ICU after being evacuated. Liam Skoda (talk) 02:30, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

Dearth of transmission information
[edit]@Another Believer: I would strongly suggest that scources, and in particular biomedical sources, be scoured for information regarding how the transmission of the infection was impacted by the quarantining of individuals on the ships. Besides personal contact, was anything learned about other, novel modes of transmission that might be relevant to other mass-isolation situations, like care facilities and detention facilities? These are the sorts of questions that draw people to this particular article. 2601:246:C700:19D:6D0A:A90C:2EA1:F8A6 (talk) 22:45, 17 March 2020 (UTC)

Hi. I also read that 4061 on the ship were tested: https://www.statista.com/statistics/1099517/japan-coronavirus-patients-diamond-princess/. Very strange the way the numbers don't even come close to matching. It shows 4061 on the ship were tested/examined on 2/28 and 4061 on the ship were ALSO tested/examined on 3/2. It's all Very fishy. It also shows "3,063 tested", but a day after Yug's source!--50.201.195.170 (talk) 20:50, 18 March 2020 (UTC)

This update should be in the article
[edit]But the Zaandam and Rotterdam are not the only cruise ships still sailing. On Tuesday, Carnival Corp., which owns nine cruise lines including Holland America, Princess Cruises and Costa Cruises, told the U.S. Security and Exchange Commission that it had more than 6,000 passengers on ships still at sea, although only a portion of these vessels are headed to the U.S.
that there are around 14 CLIA member ships off the South Florida coast that contain no passengers but are still being supported by crew.
https://time.com/5813775/cruise-ships-coast-guard-coronavirus/
P.S. As the above hints, there are thousands of crew members on ships all over the world... is there any plan to get any of them home? I will try to find specifics about this over the next week... this topic certainly needs to be included in the article. Peter K Burian (talk) 15:23, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
Update re: ships that were in Australia
[edit]I am editing some sections of this article and noted that it has not yet discussed two Royal Caribbean ships: Spectrum and Radiance of the Seas
While it appears that the Ruby Princess will not be asked to leave Australian waters in the near future, there is still a concern for the crews of five other cruise ships that departed Australian waters over the weekend. These include the Celebrity Solstice, Voyager, Ovation 9 [already covered but also>], Spectrum and Radiance of the Seas. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/05/criminal-investigation-launched-ruby-princess-cruise-ship-coronavirus-disaster
Peter K Burian (talk) 13:24, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- Another article:
The Celebrity Solstice, Voyager of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas all departed during the night, following the Spectrum of the Seas and Radiance of the Seas which left on Saturday afternoon. Dubbed 'Operation Nemesis', police worked with the five ships to equip them with supplies, as well as to transfer crew between the cruise liners.
Peter K Burian (talk) 13:30, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- can you pls update the MV Artania, the confirmed positive cases has risen now and has led to two deaths.[1] 92.234.0.177 (talk) 09:39, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
MSC Magnifica - unproven informations/allegations
[edit]Information about 250 cases on board of MSC Magnifica is not proven and very harmful. It is based on informations from WA Prime Minister who was scared because of two other ships before Magnifica came with Covid infected passengers.
MSC Magnifica already reached Mediterranean Sea over 2 Weeks after leaving Freemantle and all passengers are ok and there is no infection on board. Ship is heading towards Marseille. I think, if we are thinking about Wiki as an Encyclopedia, there should be only proven facts, not the allegations...Kondi44 (talk) 20:19, 15 April 2020 (UTC)
- Based on the content it literally said Suspected means they think it is but not proven during on March 23. 186.154.39.99 (talk) 05:46, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
Lemma
[edit]2020 coronavirus pandemic on ships should be better. -- Willi The Kid (talk) 18:53, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Willi The Kid:The inclusion of the word 'cruise' was appropriate as the article only includes information on cruise ships, and as such the rename which has taken place should not have taken place without getting a consensus.Fleet Lists (talk) 01:14, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
- The moves have been reverted as the exclusion of the word "cruise" would leave this article open to the inclusion of information regarding ships other than cruise ships, which is not desirable.Fleet Lists (talk) 01:38, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

We informed the Japanese Government to serve closed and packed meals, not meals prepared on the ship because that practice expands the probabilistic range of infection
[edit]We informed the Japanese Government to serve closed and packed meals, not meals prepared on the ship. We know probabilistically, from probability theory itself, that more people will die if we expand the probable pathways of infection.
The message never reached the National Diet. Their brains also don't understand probability theory which is a generic and basic knowledge. Few who know mathematics should understand it by themselves!
Probability theory applies to all physical phenomena (non-simplified actuality). That knowledge isn't COVID-19 specific. They have no excuse. Their stupidity killed more people than the people that would have died if they understood probability theory . (Probably we cannot blame them for not getting the message, because they had thousands of messages. We can blame them for not thinking through.)

Typos in “World Dream” section
[edit]I noticed three minor typos in the “World Dream” section but the article is protected from editing. The first is paragraph 2, second sentence “...had fever...” should be “had a fever...”, the second is paragraph 3, “...protests over fear on the virus...” should be “...protests over fear of the virus...”, the third is paragraph 4 sentence 3 “contact local health authority and observer quarantine.” should be “contact local health authorities and observe quarantine.” Aalessio1 (talk) 01:12, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
