I'll take this one on. Review will be done within the next few days. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 00:44, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • @MPJ-DK: Here is the review.
  • Can we get a reference for the concept of kayfabe described in the opening paragraph? I know it but others may not particularly if they may have no clue about pro-wrestling.
  • Yep got one that's used in a lot of articles so that is an easy fix
  • Fixed
  • Reference needed for the official Mexico weight limits in the opening
  • It is sourced in the main text under "Rules"
  • Did they promote the NWA title ahead of the CMLL one? The article isn't clear about that.
  • So here is where it gets tricky. Up until a few years ago they promoted both the CMLL and NWA Light Heavyweight title, not showing a real preference for one or the other. A few years ago the NWA Light Heavyweight title was replaced with the NWA World Historic Light Heavyweight Championship, which is also promoted as more or less equal with the CMLL version. There is no clear cut #1.
  • Needs a source that says that the Mexican title became secondary to the NWA
  • Added
  • Needs a source that says that the NWA gave them control over the title.
  • Found it, Tim Hornbaker's excellent book on the NWA covers their international expansion and talks about EMLL being granted the exclusive rights for the NWA World Light Heavyweight Championship at the time.
  • Need an inline source to support the reason they left the NWA due to politics
  • Added
  • "there was a storyline reason behind it being declared vacat". Spelling
  • Fixed
  • Is there a reason why they started to become inconsistent with the weight limits?
  • There is no official, documented reason for this. My personal belief is that in the last decade or so pro wrestling has loosened up a bit on the whole "this is real" concept with more people knowing what goes on behind the curtains. This has led to them easing up on the whole pretending it's a legitimate sport. CMLL has at times ignored the rules if they wanted to make a specific wrestler a champion for storyline purposes etc. But that's totally Original Research on my part, I cannot give an encylopedic reason for why, only examples of it happening.
  • Why was Pierroth, Jr's championship route not available?
  • In the pre-internet era, up until the mid-1990s, records of wrestling results from Mexico were not always preserved and at times only partially preserved. I have found sources stating that Pierroth Jr. was in the finals, but nothing on who he defeated in the initial rounds to qualify. So since I have no sources, not even unreliable ones there is no documentation for that portion of the tournament.
  • Additionally there also exists the possibility that the tournament prior to the finals is fictional, has happened in pro wrestling before and i have seen discussions on the matter, but just speculations nothing reliable stating that.
  • Source needed for the footnote.
  • It is there in the text, it just cannot be inside the footnote text, it's right afterwards in the main text
  • Formatting of the references needs to be consistent. The foreign language sources should have "|language=Spanish" within their templates and I note that some, specifically sources 11 and 17, are not in uniformity.
  • Fixed
  • Is it possible to get a clear image of the title belt, or at least one of the champions wearing it as the lead image?

The challenge is that I am limited to what "free to use" sources I can find. Nothing on Commons has the belt in the shot (or for that matter ANY of the CMLL World titles as they all have the same basic design) and I have not found anything of Flickr or anywhere else that has a picture of it that's free to use. I am not sure if a non-free picture would be acceptable or not for an article such as this one since there are pictures of some champions, just not with the belt?

Overall the sourcing needs sorting but it is mostly over inline issues. I'll put this on hold so let me know when you have sorted the issues in the article and i'll have another look. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 10:27, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • @The C of E: - Thank you for all the great feedback, I have fixed what can be fixed and outlined the challenges with some of the other comments you have. Please let me know if you're okay with the changes and input on the items that I am unable to resolve.  MPJ-US  21:35, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
