1983

[edit]

The Muslim Brotherhood uprising in Syria began in 1979, attacks by other Islamist groups on the government began in 1976. The uprising was practically defeated by 1983. It's likely there was some CIA involvement with the uprising, but not in response to the Syrian-Soviet treaty. If anything, the treaty was a response to the uprising and other challenges facing the regime. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.243.232.187 (talk) 12:51, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rename to CIA activities in Syria

[edit]

Not sure how to work Wikipedia very well, but should this be renamed CIA activities in Syria in line with other articles? AnarchistHistory (talk) 01:07, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This was moved unilaterally by Eurohunter (talk · contribs) despite consensus in a 2021 move discussion being against such a move. I have reverted it as an undiscussed move. @Eurohunter: if you want to move this page, I'd suggest opening a move discussion first. --Grnrchst (talk) 10:10, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@AnarchistHistory: @Grnrchst: It was moved in line with other articles such as Central Intelligence Agency first of all and according to lead. If you want too keep name such as "CIA activities in Syria" first move Central Intelligence Agency to CIA and change lead of Central Intelligence Agency activities in Syria. Eurohunter (talk) 19:20, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
All other articles are "CIA activities in country" not "Central Intelligence Agency activities in country" AnarchistHistory (talk) 21:46, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
