Roscelese - why did you remove items from the list? Not anything in wiki needs to be given a web proof. Anyway, if you understand Hebrew I can send you ALL the verified articles with these information. NONE OF THEM is made up!

I don't think they're made up, but my personal belief isn't enough. You have to cite them to a) reliable sources that b) contain the statement. Yes, things on Wikipedia do have to be cited (not necessarily to sources available online, but to specific sources), especially when they are about living people. –Roscelese (talk ⋅ contribs) 00:30, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Continued BLP violations

123o, you've really got to stop adding information which does not appear in the cited sources. To do so is always a violation of Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and because this information is about living people, it's even worse. You cannot cite a statistics table or a bracket in support of the claim that someone forfeited a match for political reasons. Period. It's not in the source - don't add it. Nor is it acceptable to find an otherwise reliable source which states that the athlete dropped out, and to speculate that it was for political reasons. Examples: Ahmed Nabil vs. Gregory Baskin sourced only to this list of participating athletes, Ayatollah Ashraf vs. Marina Kravchenko sourced only to this bracket, similar, Mohammed al Ghareeb vs. Amir Hadad cited to a Wordpress blog, a few cited to this article which doesn't name the non-Israeli athletes, etc. Unverified information about living people simply cannot appear on Wikipedia. –Roscelese (talk ⋅ contribs) 20:55, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article is forked and technically there is not such "Arab-Israeli conflict in sports" per sources. Moreover most of the incidents involve non-Arab Muslim nationals (Iranians). It can however be an integral pasrt of Boycotts of Israel page. Please vote Support or Oppose, with a proper explanation.Greyshark09 (talk) 21:05, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Given the predominance of Iranians among the boycotters, you're quite right that the title is misleading, and Boycotts of Israel is already set up to deal with non-economic boycotts (academic, artistic - athletic would be just fine).   • Oppose. This is certainly appropriate for a stand-alone. It is robust enough, and distinct enough. The fact that it often involves non-Arab Muslims does not mean that it is mis-named, either -- for example, the Entebbe hijacking was still part of the conflict, even though it was conducted largely by non-Arabs.--Epeefleche (talk) 07:29, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think that the table which dominates this article is non-encyclopedic, and should be dramatically shortened and summarized to a few notable incidents, based on high quality secondary sources. I cannot see how keeping this extensive list of minor incidents would be useful for our readers. This is not what an encyclopedia is about - we should aim for readable, high quality articles, focusing on important trends and concepts, not collections of random raw data. Since it there was no consensus to merge this page into boycotts of Israel, i herewith propose to accordingly rename this page to "boycotts of Israel in sports". "Arab-Israeli conflict" is not fit here, since most of the boycott actions were made by non-Arab sportsmen(mostly Iranian), and effectively the boycotting action itself is not really a conflict. Proposed merge of List of petitions calling for Israel to be banned from sports into Boycotts of Israel in sports

List of petitions calling for Israel to be banned from sports does not meet WP:NLIST, and per WP:PAGEDECIDE, as an alternative to deletion, it would work better as a section of Boycotts of Israel in sports. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 14:53, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@AirshipJungleman29: Can you explain why you believe it dose not meet WP:NLIST? The first time you draftified it, you pointed to "poor prose quality and the lack of sources", which is no longer a problem. Is there any other reason that I do not know? Hello @Lightburst, Launchballer, Schwede66, Buidhe, and Narutolovehinata5: sorry to bother you. I had already pinged the users most involved in this article to take their advice, but since BilledMammal accused me of CANVASSING here, I have to ping you too as VR advised me.Do you know the answer to the question I asked above? Because I do not understand why this article does not meet WP:NLIST. If you look at the first two sources I used in this article for example, you'll see that the list topic is "discussed as a group or set" by the independent reliable sources. I also don't see why should we make an already long article like Boycotts of Israel in sports longer by merging this list into it.Ghazaalch (talk) 09:25, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Boycotts of Israel in sports is less than 2,500 words long and extending it by 1,000 words still has no impact on the the article size guidelines. It does not seem to be the case as both topics are running in parallel rather than one preceding the other as background or context. I think the article that would provide context would be the Boycotts of Israel, of which these two would be "child" articles. Makeandtoss (talk) 13:16, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
