Stanza ordering

[edit]

In most reproductions of the poem's text I've seen (including that in the Wikisource link), the "Try" stanza is the 4th stanza out of 8, between the "Don't" Stanza and the "Count" stanza. However, in the reproduction in the Wikipedia article, the "Try" stanza is moved to be the 8th stanza, all else being left in place. I would think this is just a mistake in the wiki article but the 1915 Taylor Holmes recording embedded in the article also has the "Try" stanza at the end!

I find the poem more impactful with the "Try" stanza whipping up the full lunatic frenzy at the end as in Holmes's recording, and wonder if if the poem that reached Holmes for recording was edited for this reason.

Anyone know why this discrepancy exists? Skogsdyr (talk) 07:13, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Audio balance

[edit]

The audio recording needs to be balanced, it comes out much louder from one speaker 130.195.253.82 (talk) 02:50, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
