- Well, that's where you are wrong. It is not like stew at all. Two entirely different dishes. Aside from possibly small amounts of celery, and some usual herbs or spices, for this dish the meat is cooked entirely on its own. Boiled, perhaps, or simmered.. however you choose. The carrots (and whatever else you decide to add) are cooked separately. That alone should tell you that it's not a stew.
