Board track racing in the 1940s

[edit]

Should it be added to this article the fact that all racing in the United States stopped from 1942 and 1945 for World War II? It probably ended any tracks that weren't already closed. Royalbroil 21:38, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to The Golden Age of the American Racing Car, it was the Depression, not the war, that ended board track ovals in favor of the comparatively maintainance-free dirt...and even then, it eventually got to the point that Indianapolis WAS, effectively, the national championship, nearly all on its own, with only one other event registered as occurring, for instance, in 1937. To put it simply, I don't think board track racing made it past 1932, let alone to 1941. --Chr.K. (talk) 19:36, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Circle Track (9/84, p.77) has board track racing into 1939, anyhow. A question, tho: is the Nutley Velodrome the one known as New Jersey Motordrome? TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 17:24, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sad

[edit]

There're some seriously unsourced sentences here......I removed a couple of them. It's kinda sad in that a' lot of them probably have some validity.Bddmagic (talk) 20:20, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
