Affiliation

[edit]

The movie relates that the members of La Onda grew up in Southern California (East Los Angeles), and with that, they would have no association with Nuestra Familia.

In the movie, the fictional gang reffered to as La Onda is in direct reference to the real California prison gang known as "La Eme" i.e. the Mexican Mafia and NOT the Nuestra familia. Being that the characters in the movie grew up in the Pico Aliso/East Los Angeles area of southern California, it would be fair to say that they are "Sureños" (southern chicano gang members) and thus would become members of La Eme, which consists of gang members originating from Southern California. False Content

[edit]

Hi Everybody. I read in the article that due to the plot summary, The Aryan Vanguard is run by the caracter "Big Al". That is false. Big Al is not even a member of the gang. It is run by the caracter "Red Ryder". May I change that?

This is true. Montana even has to placate Big Al to call off the hit on Miklo (foosball table scene). Big Al was not in charge of the AVs, he just was an important member because he ran the prison book. 72.250.160.130 (talk) 19:59, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Move

[edit]

Why was this moved? Why was it not discussed first?--Rockero 19:33, 7 May 2006 (UTC) this Wikipedia article[reply]

Old Enemies?

[edit]

It may be pure trivia, but I think it bears mentioning somewhere in the article that Magic Mike, who eventually becomes Miklo's lieutenant and confidant, was a apparently member of Tres Puntos, Spider's Gang, making him an enemy from the get-go. ("Three points. Like a spider. RARGH!") It makes Miklo's very unlikely ascension to the top of La Onda that much more surprising. 72.250.160.130 (talk) 20:02, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gang Affiliation, pt 2

[edit]

The movie loosely relates to many actual gangs but the entire sub-plot that discusses the gangs is purely fictional. The information we get about all of the gangs and affiliations are all cliche's.

If the movie was realistic then, yeah, the guys should have been identified as Surenos since they grow up in the Los Angeles area.

Strange tidbit... Jesse Borrego, although from Texas and portraying an East L.A. gang member in this film, associates himself with many Norteno's in real life. He has filmed many independant films with Northern California's Norteno music/film group Darkroom Familia. He is also one of the few cast members that always wears a red bandana in the film (the identifying color of the Norteno's). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.35.223.134 talk) 13:59, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The movie and the Romani juvenile inmates in Hungary

[edit]

Maybe it can be interesting that the movie has also international reputation among the so called prison gangs. In Hungary the words "La Onda" or "Vatos Locos" are very frequent prison graffiti and prison tattoos. Also the names of the main characters (Miklo, Cruz, Paco). You can read La Onda and VL graffiti also in the streets where Romani young people are living. If you ask a prisoner tattooed with "La Onda" to tell what is the meaning of the writing, he would say this was a sign of "Romani Brotherhood".Botulinotoxin (talk) 07:03, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Conti's name is STILL on " Blood in blood Out " and the movie was released under BOTH titles

[edit]

No source is given for the claim that Bill Conti's music was not used in the movie . His name is STILL in the movie credits when you watch the movie . Now , one would think they would take his name off it if his music was not featured in the movie . You should definitely need a source for such a claim . 96.233.52.166 (talk) 14:20, 21 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
