The name for this operation
[edit]I don't know the "usual" English name for this operation, because I can't find any English source that writes about it. But "Bihać Operation" is not a normal English construction. Normal would be "the Bihać Operation", or "Operation Bihać". Maproom (talk) 13:37, 16 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Maproom, I haven't found any English sources either, so I don't know what would be a correct name in English. I saw name "Bihać Operation" be used in article Partisan Long March, so that's why I used it. I am not a native English speaker so I don't know the normal English construction, so I suppose this article should be renamed to "Operation Bihać". Best regards, OakMapping (talk) 19:31, 16 February 2021 (UTC)
I tried a bit harder to find more sources in English mentioning this operation and I found a few. Website vojska.net refers to it as "Bihać operation"[1], category on Wikimedia commons is called "Bihać Operation", and the book "Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Second World War" refers to it as "the Bihać operation".[2] I'd like to hear more opinions on what should name of this article be? - I'm also in the dark here. Shouldn't it be "Operation Bihać" for obvious English standardization? --► Sincerely: SolaVirum 13:06, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
- Term "Operation" implies a formal name. Unless the military operation is referred to by reliable sources as by a specific name e.g. "Bihać Operation" or "Operation Bihać", the article should be named descriptively e.g. "Battle of Bihać". If there are multiple battles of Bihać through history, the title should be "Battle of Bihać (1945)" assuming it took place in 1945.--Tomobe03 (talk) 01:06, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
- The only reliable source in English that mentions this military operation does it by the name "Bihać operation".[3] Multiple sources in Serbo Croatian mention it as "Bihaćka operacija" which translates to "Bihać operation", it is also mentioned by that name in Partisan reports, so it does have a formal name. An example of a similar name is Trieste operation. The only change I believe should be made to the name is making an "O" in "Operation" lowercase, which I will now do.
