The repository of arts - public domain

[edit]

I assume that The Repository of arts, literature,... is in the public domain, since it was published in 1825, well beyond the [List of countries' copyright lengths "standard" length of time for copyrighted material for the UK]. The archive.org link for the article does not state copyright status one way or another (i.e., no copyright field with the standard source information in this case).

Any ideas how I can determine or verify whether it is in the public domain? Thanks!--CaroleHenson (talk) 23:52, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it looks like the 4th series is no longer in copyright status, per this link. So, at the moment, I'll assume that it's good, unless someone tells me differently.--CaroleHenson (talk) 23:55, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm pretty sure any text first published in the early 19th century will be OK copyright-wise. However, it's pretty obvious that Lt took his long quote from the Devon County Council website which is where he admits (see link in Source) he got the graphic of the house from. So based on WP:SAYWHEREYOUGOTIT, if we keep that quote (do we need to?), we should attribute there, as well as to the original source.  —SMALLJIM  14:08, 21 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That's very helpful!, thanks. I'll likely work on it tomorrow.--CaroleHenson (talk) 23:42, 21 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
