Plot

[edit]

Usernameunique, there really is no need to do all these direct quotes and their attendant references. These are plot summaries. Write them up concisely in less than 500 words, and don't bother with quotation and reference unless something extraordinarily important requires a direct quote. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 18:12, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • About these references. Again, they are only necessary for direct quotes, and direct quotes should be kept to a minimum. The formatting is also needlessly wordy, repeating name, title, etc. when none of that is necessary: a page number alone suffices.

And then the quotes inside the references: I assume that most of these books are now out of copyright, so quoting from them excessively is not a violation of our fair use policy (Wikipedia:Non-free content); at the same time, there is no need for such long quotes. Given that the article is well over 100k, it simply needs to be trimmed considerably, and this is one thing that needed cutting. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 21:13, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree, the plot summaries are far too long and detailed, and sprinkled with unnecessary editorial interjections. Usernameunique would be wise to read Wikipedia:How to write a plot summary, and write dispassionately as well as concisely. --Animalparty! (talk) 20:38, 22 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
