The actual title of this article should be changed from Bersuit to Bersuit Vergarabat since that seems to be the complete name of the band. Editfromwithout (talk) 17:20, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done The full name is used by the band on both their official website and their official Facebook page. Skinsmoke (talk) 06:27, 28 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notability: help save La Bersuit in Wikipedia

[edit]

I mentioned Bersuit Vergarabat's support of Nicolás Maduro's government in the counterconcert "Hands off Venezuela". Unfortunately, this caused some Wikipedia editors to *question Bersuit's notability*. (Some arguing that they've lived in Argentina but never heard of the band, which is possible I suppose, but highly unlikely). To save the band's article from this bizarre situation of risking removal from Wikipedia just because some editors don't agree with the band's ideology, can someone more knowledgeable about rock music coverage on Wikipedia add rock solid references? Thanks! The andf (talk) 12:33, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The andf, I do not see any concern that the article will be deleted. That someone needs to do the work here to establish notability in terms of what that means on Wikipedia (WP:NN) is a different thing than saying they aren't notable in terms of what that means in the real world. I don't have time to do the work and find the sources, but neither am I submitting the article to WP:AFD-- these notices are routinely placed so that someone will do the work to find sources. If I thought they could not meet notability, the article would already be at AFD. (Yes, I lived in Argentina; yes, I've never heard of them, and that is not entirely surprising since I am not likely to follow their kind of music and the band changed their many times, and it's a goofy name.) SandyGeorgia I'm unconvinced by your explanation. If you lived in Argentina anywhere near the 90s, you would have heard of la Bersuit, and if you didn't, you have no business arguing this. That the name is goofy is no excuse -- the more the reason to remember it. Their other band names don't matter (much as "The Quarrymen" or "Kara's Flowers" don't matter for other bands); their rise to prominence was exclusively with the name Bersuit Vergarabat, which is the name everybody is familiar with. And yes, you specifically implied they were not notable by remarking in the Venezuela Aid Live talk page that maybe they were mostly known for the Maduro concert, which is a nonsensical thing to say of a well-known band with almost 30 years of history (with their current name). I don't care whether it's your "kind of music" and that's irrelevant for this discussion. Their kind of music is Argentine rock, and if you didn't like it, I wonder how well integrated with Argentina's pop culture you were to begin with. Try not to let your political convictions get in the way of facts. The andf (talk) 18:00, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Tries to be helpful --> gets attacked --> unwatches article. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 18:29, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
"Tries to be helpful" by casting doubt on notability of band, for political reasons --> gets called out --> throws a fit. Good riddance. 152.170.58.74 (talk) 19:09, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
