Emilie Helm
[edit]There should be a reference to Mrs Helm. She must have been an active rebel, since she was pardoned by Lincoln (though I am not sure how she could be pardoned without being convicted in the first place).101.98.74.13 (talk) 06:51, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
- It was an amnesty program, see The Proclamation of Amnesty and Reconstruction, that covered persons who "directly or by implication, participated in the existing rebellion" and were not a member of several except classes such as U.S. military officers that resigned their commission and then fought for the Confederacy.
