Merge to Bayero University Kano
[edit]I have removed the merge tags because the article Bayero University Kano is a copyright violation being a copy of this history of the university. I have tagged it for speedy deletion and will delete it myself after a while. The article is a complete copy of that article with a single introduction line added at the top. It is not recoverable. Once it is deleted, it is probably a good idea to move this article to that title as BUK is the official name. --Bduke (talk) 21:47, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
- Is Bayero University, Kano (with comma) or Bayero University Kano the official name? Picaroon (t) 00:07, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- The official web page has this at the bottom: "©2006 Bayero University Kano, Nigeria". That is my recollection too from when I worked there in the early days. However the history page just uses "Bayero University". --Bduke (talk) 01:44, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
The article has now been deleted by another administrator. Should we do the move so Bayero University Kano is the name? --Bduke (talk) 01:48, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- I've moved the article, and redirected the version of the name with the comma. Picaroon (t) 02:20, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
Red links
[edit]There are far too many red links for sections and people who do not have an article. I will remove the red links in the section on "Academics" as these sections are certainly not notable enough now to have articles. I think the heading would be clearer as "Academic sections". The Provosts and Vice Chancellors are most likely notable enough for an article. Work is needed there. The "Holders of honorary degrees" are similar. However, "Former instructors" and "Graduates" are very different. I knew two of the former instructors and I think they are marginal for notability. I suggest they are removed from the article to this talk page where they will be a reminder to people to do work on them to see if they are notable. --Bduke (Discussion) 21:15, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
