Expedition to Mollendo

[edit]
"he goal was to fix the Peruvian 1st Division keeping it from aiding the second one which were to be attacked by Baquedano’s main force" ... and destroy the docking facilities to obviate the need in the future for blockading the port (according to peruvians historians and Bruce W. Farcau in "Ten Cents War" page 133) ...unfortunately they destroyed more than war stategic buildings of public property.
"When he(Barboza) returned to Mollendo saw that some soldiers committed abuses against the population. Barbosa re-embarked his troops and left Mollendo on the 13" When Barboza returned to Mollendo their soldier were sacking and burning the port even the church, thats not a controversial point, chileans historians and eyewitness agreed with that althought they said that thier troops were formed of old chileans workers deported from peru, according to Benjamin Vicuña Mackenna "...Al llegar el coronel Barbosa a Mollendo se le presentó un espectáculo de horror, la orgía de un ejército desbandado entre las llamas de un incendio..." > "When colonel Barboza arrives to Mollendo he meets an horrorific sight, the orgy of an army dispersed in the flames of the fire" according to Farcau chilean army "engaged in several days of essencially unrestricted looting and burning, causing considerable embarrassment to the administration in Santiago and to the army", i'm going to correct it.
