Discrepancy

[edit]

The numbers provided are highly exagerated. It is being claimed that the Khwarazmians had 200000 men. Thats really interesting because the mongol army invading Khwarazmia was some 80000. The Khwarazmians had to flee, I wonder where they found all these men. Besides it is also claimed that the Georgian army is 60000, in order to collect that large force a country has to have at least 2.5 million to 3 million population. There were not even that much living in the entire caucasus at that time, the population of britain is estimated at less then 2 million at that time even the English kings were not able to collect such a large army!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Orrin 73 (talkcontribs)

You don't know how much was living in the Caucasus at that time and in that pediod the Georgians had vassals, allies etc. Apart of that at one point the Kingdom of Georgia had practicaly over 7 million vassals. That doesn't just simply include the few hundred thousand or 1 million Georgians living in and around the kingdom, but also captured regions, nearby vassal states and allies.

People tend to believe that because written numbers seem dramaticaly huge. When you have a few hundred thousand people gathered during a huge festival or concert and watch at it from far, you will notice that in real life it aren't that shocking many actualy. You can't simply compare the population of England with eastern peoples and draw a picture of the entire period. Scientists are only assuming too, based on logic etc while having no actual proof for anything. Yet we have chronicles and those could also be a bit biased like today's media. Nothing really has changed too much regarding retelling events etc. Those numbers regarding this battle may be in fact a bit overscaled by chronicles and historians for both sides that participated, especialy Georgian side, despite having mercenaries. But untill there are new studies or documents unvealed, we must keep using those historical references. TheMightyGeneral (talk) 00:08, 26 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

User: Wikaviani Leave a reason to revert Shalva's execution and Ivane's death.--85.104.66.113 (talk) 23:34, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits were poorly sourced since you replaced a high quality source with a random Turkish one.---Wikaviani (talk) (contribs) 23:40, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

it's irrelevant. I ask why you reverted the execution of Shalva and the death of Ivane. Also reference of my source is Ibn Kathir. Not random turkish source. please look at the page 31 and search yirmi bin which means 20,000 and see what the given source is.--85.104.66.113 (talk) 23:49, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You tried to remove the Cambridge History of Iran source and swapped it with a random paper in Turkish, through edit-warring.[1]-[2]-[3] That's a big no-no. To make matters worse, you waited a few minutes, and when you didn't receive a reply from Wikaviani, you decided to reinstate the same thing once again.[4] In addition, the alleged execution/deaths of Shalva and Ivane, which you tried to add, was unsourced. In short: unless you can prove why the paper in Turkish is superior to the Cambridge source, and are able to cite a source to provide WP:VER for the alleged execution of Shalva and Ivane, the original revision will stay. - LouisAragon (talk) 00:38, 10 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User:LouisAragon Bro don't you understand what i saying? Reference of my source is Ibn Kathir, Al-Bidāya wa-n-Nihāya (البداية والنهاية) volume:13, page:114. For execution of shalva and death of Ivane read this [5] and this [6].--85.104.70.233 (talk) 09:48, 10 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
