It is pretty clear where this reporter goes to do his research. You're welcome, Mr. Street. Although it is kind of cool to see my words "in print" like that.
Mandatory in MLB
[edit]There seems to be a bit of a discrepancy between the dates listed for MLB making batting helmets mandatory. The bean ball article as well as both MLB.com and The Baseball Page list the date as 1956.Fbdave 01:32, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Discrepency in history
[edit]MLB's website states that Willie Wells of the Negro Leagues was the first person to use a batting helmet. Here's the ref: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/history/mlb_negro_leagues_profile.jsp?player=wells_willie. There's plenty more references like this. Shouldn't this fact be changed? The Bresnahan statement doesn't cite any sources. Oomoxme (talk) 12:39, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
worn when running bases
[edit]someone might want to comment on when it became common/mandatory to keep the helmet on when running bases, rather than only when batting. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.101.126.151 (talk) 06:01, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
First attempt at cleanup/reorganization
[edit]With this edit, I tried to make this page into ... well, a page. It still needs a lot of attention, but hopefully this provides a blueprint. --Jprg1966 (talk) 06:11, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
