Kay's husband Ronny
[edit]There is no article on Ronny Kay, Barbara Kay's husband, but more than half of the "anti-communism" section seems to be about him. It isn't really knit into the rest of the article. It also shows signs of being a cut-and-paste job. Work is needed here, but I don't know enough to do it.
Internal contradiction: "When his family immigrated to Canada, he was nine years old and only spoke Russian and English." vs. "He learned English at school.[3]". Note [3] give no support to this: the reference is probably wrong.
The paragraph on Kay's husband should probably be dropped. I found it quite interesting but not really relevant. Or at least not shown to be relevant.DHR (talk) 21:26, 17 September 2022 (UTC)
Widdowson
[edit]Thank you Franceswiddowson for your contributions to Wikipedia.
When you replaced the text and reference:
- Widdowson said that the Canadian Indian residential school system was a "good idea".[1], you inadvertently deleted the reference:
- Widdowson said "[w]hile obviously there were serious problems with the schools that must be recognized and discussed, so as to avoid future educational deficiencies, labelling the schools as 'cultural genocide' prevents us from probing deeper into the structural reasons for the failings of these institutions".[2]
This is an article about Barbara Kay, her publications, interviews, panels, career, etc and the responses to her writings, etc. based on RS. Your statement, which is intended to clarify Widdowson's views on residential schools, misses the mark by describing something that is not in this article—the problem with labeling residential schools as "cultural genocide." I have completed details in the reference template that were missing.

- If you are connected to Frances Widdowson, Wikipedia's protocols COI require that you request changes with explanations, in regards to content about yourself and your views, on the talk page. You cannot make the edits yourself as you have a conflict of interest. For many people who do not regularly edit Wikipedia, this protocol is a puzzling challenge. You cannot even correct your date of birth in the article. You would have to add the correction to the talk page and provide a published reliable source. This seems extreme. However, when examined from a broader perspective with a fuller understanding of how Wikipedia works, it is a reasonable way of ensuring that Wikipedia articles eventually reach Wikipedia standards and that people, institutions, agencies and organizations do not use Wikipedia as a PR instrument.
While editors must write from a NPOV, the authors of the reliable sources are not required to be NPOV. Decribing Lefebvre's phrase about Widdowson maintaining "that residential schools were a good idea" in the Edit summary, as "malicious" is unwarranted. Melanie Lefebvre argued forcefully against Widdowson's and Barbara Kay's viewpoints and therefore hers is a valuable contribution to this article. The editor's role is not to promote or dismiss the views of Lefebvre, Widdowson or Kay but to cite the relevant content by others from RS.Oceanflynn (talk) 20:08, 28 July 2018 (UTC)

Far-right and hard conservative views
[edit]I feel that the article and especially the opening do not even mention that she is far-right. Rebel media is an ultra far right organization. As she as with her praise for Neo Nazis such as Faith Goldy 2604:3D09:A97C:FF00:F951:AEDC:1EEA:E506 (talk) 00:58, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
