Substantive editing

[edit]

I will be performing substantive editing on the Wikipedia page about Barbara Ellen Smith. The article does have a good structure and headings; however, it needs a thorough explanation for all sections. In addition, it has errors in the spelling and grammar departments, so those are the main issues I seek to edit. This article is short, and could be improved with a deep dive for more sources to add to Barbara Ellen Smith's life, so those are my main goals. I will do this by:

1. Read the article three times: once for spelling, second for grammar, then once more to double-check that everything is in order. 2. Research for additional articles that could help improve the information cited on the Wikipedia page. 3. Double-check the credibility of these articles. 4. Make any other changes according to the information found as well as any new errors discovered while rereading the article. Omh2 (talk) 02:20, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Great plan! Hope your editing went well. Rhizomesandranch (talk) 15:14, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Editing

[edit]

When I found this article, I thought it could benefit from some the addition of more information, sources, and images as well as some slight reorganization to accommodate that additional information.

The edits I've made to this article are as follows: expanded the right-hand box of quick facts to include nationality, fields of study, and institutions; revised the introductory summary to note the expansiveness and longevity of her work; replaced the "Education and Career" and "Work" sections with "Early Life and Education" and "Career" sections to improve the organization of information; added to the "Early Life and Education" and "Career" sections based on information from existing and new sources; added the "Appalachia and the Health of the Nation" source.

I tried finding images of Smith and her work to supplement this article, but I couldn't find anything that wouldn't infringe on copyright laws. Averagelitstudent (talk) 00:07, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Great edits! Sorry we had some problems with dual editing. :) Rhizomesandranch (talk) 15:13, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
