[edit]See Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest/Noticeboard#JessikaRita_and_friends. It looks like this article was created as part of a PR campaign (alongside http://www.truthaboutbairhugger.com/) to counter lawsuits [1] surrounding whether the devices are safe. "According to an article in the New York Times, Dr. Scott D. Augustine, inventor of the Bair Hugger warming blanket, no longer supports the use of the device and has expressed his concern that it poses a danger to patients. The doctor has since invented a new warming device that doesn’t use forced air. He promotes this device as a safer alternative." SmartSE (talk) 23:44, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
- Note that Augustine has a conflict of interest, because his original device is one of the main competitors for his new device. The 2010 NYT article certainly could be used to add information about the business end of the history.
- I don't know how to mention the lawsuits. The first action (earlier this month) was to dismiss them for lack of actual evidence, apparently including any single case where the surgeon said that s/he thought the Bair Hugger was the source of the infection. Most of what I found in Google News was press releases and blog posts, which are poor sources.
- I think what's really missing from this article is something about why anyone cares about patient warming during surgery in the first place. WhatamIdoing (talk) 22:35, 26 January 2018 (UTC)
Air temperature
[edit]Can anyone add the temperature of the air that this device gives out? FreeFlow99 (talk) 17:36, 27 November 2019 (UTC)
