Azov Battalion

[edit]

Clearly the Azov battalion is going to become a frequently clicked link from this page in the coming period of time, and has been so already. We ought to come up with a conclusive description for it which reflects the page on it itself. There is obviously a fair amount to consider, including potentially playing into Russian misinformation, but also turning a blind eye to Nazis. I think 'controversial' is a step in the right direction, but doesn't really quite hit the nail on the head (it has itself admitted to being at least far-right before the Invasion but after current recruitment due to it, whether it remains that way waits to be seen). — Preceding unsigned comment added by EPEAviator (talkcontribs) 09:53, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@EPEAviator: I guess. I personally would change "controversial" to "far-right extremist", "ultranationalist", "ethnonationalist" or "white supremacist" instead of "neo-Nazi" as the unit's Wikipedia page says there are Jews in it (ie. Nathan Khazin), but I won't revert whatever edit you make to the page. SentientObject (talk) 16:52, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@SentientObject: I am not going to make any edits until I have come up with a good choice. EPEAviator (talk) 22:01, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@EPEAviator: It's been a while. I think we should go with far-right extremist (and watch the page to make sure people don't remove it). SentientObject (talk) 22:21, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@SentientObject: Yes, I think maybe we need to use some sources to write it as such though, as it remains contentious. EPEAviator (talk) 19:48, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I changed the description to extremist right-wing, and added the links as citations. SentientObject (talk) 17:37, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
