Map
[edit]The map in the infobox has the coordinate automatically populated according to Template:Infobox Settlement, However, it's populating the wrong coordinates! Auriesville should be in central New York, near the Mohawk River; but the template it marking it as just north of New York City. Is there any way to fix this? bahamut0013wordsdeeds 09:58, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Update content re: Ossernenon
[edit]Based on more than a decade of document study and archeological research, New York historians and ethnologists have established sites for numerous historic Mohawk villages referred to in historical documentation (their names were spelled differently among the people recording, who were French, Dutch and English, so it was difficult to reconcile the various 17th-century accounts.) In the late 19th-century, Catholic scholars associated the hamlet of Auriesville with Ossernenon, but contemporary scholars disagree with this conclusion. They have determined Ossernenon was located further west on a tributary south of the Mohawk River (west of where Fonda is located on the north shore of the river.) It appears that the French Jesuits had a mission village for a period at the site that became Auriesville; it was destroyed by Mohawk in 1684. There are maps in the Dean R. Snow et al. reference showing the sites which have been studied. Cites and sources have been added to this article on this topic. Parkwells (talk) 15:53, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
Need separate article on Ossernenon
[edit]This was 9 miles from the later Auriesville and has been the subject of extensive research. It deserves its own article.Parkwells (talk) 16:40, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
