Notable People

[edit]

Is there really any point in having this section? People are continually adding names of people of no importance whatsoever. It's by far the most vandalised section. And is it really that informative? The information will be available on the article about that person, unless they don't have an article, in which case they don't count as noteworthy. It's a pointless section in my opinion. Face-2-face (talk) 22:47, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What a Mess

[edit]

Considered cleaning this up but it's too much work. I'd almost suggest someone assembled the facts, ripped this up, and started over. Someone who knows how to write for once. A disgrace.

Artane is also the trade name of the anti-parkinsonian drug trihexyphenidyl. I don't know nearly enough to write an article about it, and I'm a WikiPedia newbie, anyway. I have taken Artane for many years and wish there was some information about it here.

Who is Gary Shore? I can't find any mention of him in web-searches. If no more details or references are going to be given, he will have to go! 83.70.69.17 12:11, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Who are Brendan Gleeson, Peter Connolly, Rory Buckley, Darragh O'Malley? Can anybody think of a reason why they shouldn't be removed? Rwxrwxrwx 17:35, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Johannes de Sacrobosco

[edit]

The claim that Johannes de Sacrobosco came from Artane directly contradicts the wikipedia page on Johannes de Sacrobosco (http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Sacrobosco), which says he was most likely from Halifax, England. Further more, it claims his name is Anglicised as John of Holywood (as opposed to Hollywood).

I just wanted to get other people's opinions on the paragraph about John Hollywood. Should it be removed completely? Or is there any sources to support these claims?

The rest of the page badly needs sources, particularly the claim that St.David's is built on the site of Artane Castle. As far as I know, there is a plaque at Artane Castle Shopping Centre saying that the shopping centre is built on the site of Artane Castle. (However, I have no written sources to support this)

Thank You. 86.42.85.213 20:45, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
