Labels

Since 1995, Armin has released many tracks on different labels with increasing success. His first big success was "Blue Fear" on Cyber Records. This 'Euro Trance blueprint' made it into the UK Chart. "Communication" was released on the same label, and had a huge impact on Ibiza, Spain in the summer of 1999. After being signed to , this track entered the UK Chart at #18 in 2000.

I looked through the history, and it looks like it should have said "AM:PM". However, it was linked to [[AM:PM]], which is a link to a PM in the Amharic language Wikipedia. DJ Ranking

Is it appropriate that his DJ ranking is in the introduction? If this was a real encyclopedia, wouldn't it have that somewhere in the body. The introduction should deal with the main aspects of his style, career etc. M0rt 04:13, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

There seems to be a lot of emphasis placed on these rankings among the audiences of these international club DJs. I think it is appropriate to mention the ranking in the introduction for perhaps a handful of these, and I'm not sure Armin van Buuren would be included. There are a number of entities that do these rankings, so for every year it would be quite possible to come up with 4 or five, perhaps even more, DJs who could testify to having been ranked #1 in the world. The DJ List which is cited here is new to me. If it were significant I would expect it to have its own article, which it doesn't. I believe there is a need for some discussion regarding our use of these ranking entities. __meco 06:49, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

On the verge of copyvio

The sections "As a producer" and "As a performer" are to a large extent verbatim copies of a profile at InternetDJ.Com which, according to the dates on comments on that web site is more than 4 years old. This was entered into the article on January 1, 2005 by an IP user and has not been dealt with properly. This article is terrible

This article is terribly written. This, for example, is scandalous: In October 2002, Van Buuren was voted Number 5 in the DJ Magazine 100 top DJs. The following year, he jumped up to the #3 spot, and held it strong for 3 years straight. His work left him on the #2 spot, just below Paul van Dyk in the 2006 polls.

On April 12th of 2006, Van Buuren began a Canadian tour with a performance in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. This was his first appearance in the centrally located Canadian city. Despite a Wednesday booking, the venue was filled to capacity with fans eager to see Van Buuren perform. Throughout his set Van Buuren could be seen signing autographs for his eager fans.

WTF??? This article is badly in need of rewriting. Armin does care he wrote a song about capturing the crown: The world is watching you. However this article still needs to be rewritten.

Why is "List of artists who reached number one on the US Dance chart" a link at the bottom of the page, when he's not even on that list? Lots of things wrong with this article. High school?

The Netherlands has an educational system which is in no terms comparable to the American elementary school / junior high / high school system. Instead we work with 'Basis school' and 'Continued education', which are its official terms in English literature. If more standard English terms are needed the 'primary' and 'secondary' school terms would be a better option. The Netherlands does not have a 'high school' and there is no reason to use 'high school' instead of 'secondary school' here. In fact, I suspect this to be written down by a Dutch person as they are known to cautiouslessly translate what should be 'continued education' to 'high school' because on ignorance on their behalf on the drastically different nature of the American school system and assume 'high school' is comparable.

Most forms of 'continued education' do not allow for the study of law or any study at Dutch universities to begin with, such proletarian people are rightfully placed at a lower level than academic education where they may listen to hip-hop, hardcore techno and the music Armin has made since 2004. Why the neutrality marker in the beginning of the Biography section. As far as I can see, the section is as neutral as dry dust, following all neutrality criteria. If the article might be factually inaccurate (such as full of errors), then instead use the templates {{Fact t}} for ^{[citation needed]}, {{Fact t}} for ^{[citation recommended]} and {{Disputed-section}} for

under ASOT 500, the article references a show on march 27th in miami. I was listening to that live, and i can tell you definitively that that show was A state of trance 550. not sure about the one in south africa, but considering its a weekly show, i'd think that that one would be 550 as well. just clarifying some false information.

What do Armin van Buuren and other DJs like him actually do to produce music

This is not clear in the article to someone like me, who knows nothing about this field. To me, a DJ plays someone else′s music. "DJ" stands for "disc jockey", which means he plays records.

From what I can gather from the article, Van Buren makes his own music using a computer (with the assistance of other musicians to do things like sing). However, this is not explained at all in the article (or via a link found in the article). The instruments listed in the box are "Instruments Synthesizer, Drum machine, Logic Pro, Ableton, Pro Tools" but these are meaningless to me.

And if he makes music using a computer, does he still play other people's music like an ordinary DJ? And why do they call this kind of musician a "DJ" rather than "computer musician" or something like that. Does he make the music spontaneously on stage, or does he play it back?

Readers like me might want to know more about this. And, yes, I've clicked the various links in the article, but there is no explanation of any of this. Schildewaert (talk) 10:26, 25 December 2013 (UTC)

When Van Buuren DJ's, all he does is playing tracks from CD's/pendrive (I'm not sure which). However, he rarely performs his tracks live, most of the time simplifying them somewhat. When it comes to vocal tracks, often it is a combination of both, i.e. there's an instrumental version of the track playing in the background, but the singer is actually singing live. When he does make music, it is in the studio.
