Wendee Lee

Wendee Lee appears in the list of days of the year as born in April 29th 1955, but in the Wendee Lee article, her birthday appears as in February 20 (no year typed). ¿Should I edit the Wendee Lee article with the April 29th birthday? 190.24.64.58 (talk) 02:48, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Just a moment I remembered to check what the external links shown in the article about her mentioned about her birthdate, and according to the sites IMDB, Voice Chasers and Anime News Network (the 4th link shows an interview), it's April 29 1955, it would indicate the Wendee Lee article is the one with the wrong birthdate. 190.24.64.58 (talk) 04:57, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Barbaro

I don't think animals should be included on birthday or death lists. These should be reserved for humans only.

Newcomer to editing. I too was surprised to find an animal listed on a birthday list. However, a friend looking up her birthday and finding Barbaro listed on April 29 found it to be an encouragement. It seems to be a question of the philosophy and reasoning behind Day articles. Are the articles purely meant for reference? It can be enlightening to compare what historical events occurred in other parts of the world on a specific date, but usually in history lessons more general comparisons are used, and specific date lists do not readily lend themselves to generalities. Most day-to-day users as myself would probably look up a specific day only because it had personal meaning. Since this is so, and since some general readers might be embarrassed or insulted to find an animal listed along with the human individuals, it might be worth considering keeping birth dates of significant animals to the events section on each date page, and only to be added if there is such a significant animal to list. Barbaro is such an animal since the many attempts in equine surgery and physical rehabilitation were considerable, and significant in the understanding of modern veterinary medicine. The guideline at WP:DOY does not directly address the inclusion of animals, although the topic has been discussed. The addition of animals has been generally tolerated for those that are the subject of an article. They appear very rarely and there hasn't been a need to address them directly. I would support their exclusion, but I wouldn't support special treatment if they are allowed to be included. -- Mufka ^{(u) (t) (c)}

Most of the animals listed on these pages are horses. Whirlaway, Kelso, Phar Lap, Barbaro, Affirmed, Ruffian, Kauto Star, Alydar, Man o' War, Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Aristides, and Narita Bryan all appear in the births and/or deaths sections of these pages. There are also some dogs, Rin Tin Tin, Greyfriars Bobby, Moose, and Soccer. Also a sheep: Dolly, gorillas: Massa, Floquet de Neu, and Koko, whales: Shamu and Keiko, an elephant: Jumbo, a panda: Ling-Ling, and chimpanzees: Ham the Chimp and Washoe. I can't think of any other kind of animal at the moment. I think I may have removed a couple horse entries from these pages a few months ago, but generally I leave them be. They don't do any harm, but I don't think they belong on these pages and I wouldn't at all mind seeing them go. As a bit of trivia, this "fact" was deliberately inserted into this article as a joke by Times journalist Hugo Rifkind on the day that Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding was announced for April 29th 2011, as test of whether British Tabloid newspapers would report their facts blindly from wikipedia without doing any real fact checking. End of Syrian Occupation of Lebanon?

I don't see support for a 29 April date in the relevant articles nor in the sources. 30 April has its support. 10 April as well and even 26 April, but I can't find support for 29 April. I am hesitant to remove this without doing some more checking, and checking the other relevant dates, so I tagged it for now. Robert A.West (Talk) 18:39, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

I could be wrong, but I understand the withdrawal which began on the 26th, preceded the signing of the UN resolution which would have been on the 29th by Syria, bring the adoption on the 30th. DDB (talk) 07:20, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
